To use the Heart Rate Zone Training features, you need MyFitnessDJ (with Power Pack activated in tools) a device running iOS 7 with Bluetooth LE (iPhone 4s and later, iPad 3 and later, ipod Touch 5, iPad mini) and a Bluetooth LE Heart Rate Strap or Apple Watch. Small Group Heart Rate Zone Training with Scoreboard

Coach

  • In tools, tap 'Bluetooth HeartRate Monitor'. Connect to the first participant's Heart Rate strap. If it's the first time you've added that strap, adjust Heart Rate Max** and Nickname, then repeat for the next participant. Tap 'Back' > 'Done'. 
  • Play your profile as usual. Turn device to landscape for Scoreboard view or use AirPlay on a large display for the best results.
  • Scoreboard provides a large block with the current cue's text and color and a smaller block for each participant which shows their Heart Rate, current Zone and will flash if their zone doesn't match the cued zone. It also shows workout progress, track progress and a countdown timer to the next cue.

Each Participant

  • Each Small Group Participant uses a Bluetooth LE capable Heart Rate Strap. Many users like this $34 Jarv from Amazon. 
  • Put on the strap anytime, but wait for your coach's cue to click the module into the strap.
  • As the session progresses, use the Scoreboard to see your current heart rate and percentage of maximun by color:
    • Cyan = 55% or less
    • Green = 56% - 65%
    • Yellow = 66% - 75% 
    • Orange = 76% - 85%
    • Red = 86% or greater
  • If your heartrate is not in the cued zone, your small block will blink the zone's color you are in. 

 

Individual Heart Rate Zone Training

 

  • In Tools, tap 'Bluetooth HeartRate Monitor', adjust your Heart Rate Max**, connect to your Heart Rate Strap, tap 'Back' > 'Done'
  • As you profile plays, notice the small colored block above the cue. It will show your current heart rate and percentage of maximun by color:
    • Cyan = 55% or less
    • Green = 56% - 65%
    • Yellow = 66% - 75% 
    • Orange = 76% - 85%
    • Red = 86% or greater
  • When your heart rate is in the cued zone, the large and small blocks are the same solid color. If your heartrate is not in the cued zone, the small block will blink the zone color you are in.

  • In tools, tap 'Become the Network Leader' > 'Done' and play your profile as usual. Participants' devices can Follow anytime, to mtach the zone cue (color of your current cue) with their current percentage of heart rate max. 

Each Participant

  • Small Group Participants can use the free MyFitnessDJ app
  • In tools, tap 'Follow a Network Leader'
  • In the status screen, tap 'Options', adjust your Heart Rate Max**, connect to your Heart Rate Strap, tap 'Back'
  • As you progress in the group profile, notice the small colored block above the cue. It will show your current heart rate and percentage of maximun by color:
    • Cyan = 55% or less
    • Green = 56% - 65%
    • Yellow = 66% - 75% 
    • Orange = 76% - 85%
    • Red = 86% or greater

** Enter a few points lower than your actual maximum heart rate and let MyFitnessDJ automatically adjust it for you. Anytime you appreach the set max, it will bump the set number up by one point. After a few strong rides, you'll know your max better than ever!
