To use the Heart Rate Zone Training features, you need MyFitnessDJ with Studio Edition activated in tools and 1 to 8 Bluetooth LE Heart Rate devices.
Small Group Heart Rate Zone Training with Scoreboard
Coach
- In tools, tap ‘Connect Bluetooth Sensors’. Connect to the first participant’s Heart Rate device. The first time you add a device, tap again after it’s connected to enter custom nickname and HR max*, if known. Repeat for each additional participant.
- Plan and Play your profile using Display Types for the data you want to see on the screen for each cue. You can tap and hold a Display Type to add it to all cues in the current track. Turn device to landscape for Scoreboard view or use AirPlay on a large display for the best results.
- Scoreboard provides a large block with the current cue’s text and color and a smaller block for each participant which shows their Heart Rate, current % of HR max* and Zone color. It also shows workout progress, track progress and a countdown timer to the next cue.
Each Participant
- Each Small Group Participant uses a Bluetooth LE capable Heart Rate wearable device.
- To help your coach correctly identify each participant, wait for your coach’s cue to activate the device.
- As the session progresses, use the Scoreboard to see your current heart rate and percentage of maximun by color:
- Cyan = 55% or less
- Green = 56% – 65%
- Yellow = 66% – 75%
- Orange = 76% – 85%
- Red = 86% or greater
Individual Heart Rate Zone Training
- In Tools, tap ‘Connect Bluetooth Sensors’, connect your Heart Rate device, tap again to adjust your nickname and Heart Rate Max* if necessary.
- As your profile plays, notice the small colored block above the cue. It will show your current heart rate and percentage of maximun by color:
- Cyan = 55% or less
- Green = 56% – 65%
- Yellow = 66% – 75%
- Orange = 76% – 85%
- Red = 86% or greater
- When your heart rate is in the cued zone, the large and small blocks are the same solid color.

Coach
- In tools, tap ‘Become the Network Leader’ > ‘OK’ and play your profile as usual. Participants’ devices can ‘Follow a Network Leader’ to match the zone cue (color of your current cue) with their current percentage of heart rate max.
Each Participant
- Small Group Participants can use the free MyFitnessDJ app
- In tools, tap ‘Follow a Network Leader’
- In the status screen, tap ‘Options’, connect to your Heart Rate device and tap again to adjust your nickname and Heart Rate Max* if necessary .
- As you progress in the group profile, notice the small colored block above the cue. It will show your current heart rate and percentage of maximun by color:
- Cyan = 55% or less
- Green = 56% – 65%
- Yellow = 66% – 75%
- Orange = 76% – 85%
- Red = 86% or greater
- When your heart rate is in the cued zone, the large and small blocks are the same solid color.
** Enter a few points lower than your actual maximum heart rate and let MyFitnessDJ automatically adjust it for you. Anytime your heart rate data indicates a higher max is appropriate, Scoreboard will bump the set number up. After a few strong rides, you’ll know your max better than ever!
